Wall and Floor Insulation

In today’s environment and economy we are becoming more and more determined to save energy and money as and where we can. Having the walls within your home insulated is one of the best things you can do to prevent heat loss and waste of energy through those cold British months. In fact, around 1/3 of all heat lost in un-insulated home is through the walls. This is because heat always flows from a warm area to a colder one. In winter, the colder it is outside means the heat from your home escapes quickly into the surrounding air. When paying for the heating to be switched during a British winter, the last thing you want is for it to be heating the neighbourhood too!

Here at Milbarn Construction, we provide some of the best wall insulation services in Essex. Our team of honest and reliable tradesmen can always offer you free welcomed advice as to whether your property’s walls could be eligible for re-insulation. Most houses built from the 1990s onwards have insulation in their walls to retain heat. However, if your house is any older, then it may not have any wall insulation at all!

First you need to find out whether you have either a solid or cavity wall which most houses in the UK have:

  • Cavity walls: made up of two walls with a gap in between, known as the cavity; the outer leaf is usually made of brick, and the inner layer of brick or concrete block.
  • Solid walls: have no cavity: each wall is a single solid wall, usually made of brick or stone.

As well as insulating the walls of your property, we can also insulate the floors to prevent those nasty draughts from skirting boards and floor boards arising during those colder months.
